Research: How physical exercise fights the coronavirus

According to research from the University of Virginia and medical professor Zhen Yan, physical exercise can protect practitioners from the new coronavirus. Exercise has tremendous benefits for the immune system and in particular for respiratory attacks and heart complications caused by the virus.

Covid-19 is still relatively unknown to doctors looking for the solution in drugs, vaccines, etc. At the University of Virginia they had another direction in their research, looking for the solution through exercise.

Research published in March 2020 investigates the effects of exercise and the production of antioxidants that may have a protective role for health.

Research has shown that physical activity produces the substance EcSOD (extracellular peroxide dismutase) which is an antioxidant for the body. This substance plays a fundamental role in the body’s defense mechanism and especially in diseases of the respiratory, heart and liver.

Patients who had problems, it was found that the amount of EcSOD in the body was not large, while they stated that they do not exercise at all. The above syndromes are associated with the coronavirus. A large percentage of patients are admitted to hospitals with acute respiratory failure due to a high rate of deaths from COVID-19.

This research proves that exercise and sports in general are an ally of the human body against the pandemic and not a cause of its spread.
